Snact: Turning Ugly Produce Into Healthy Snacks

Snact: Turning Ugly Produce Into Healthy Snacks

Founder: Ilana Taub

Picking through produce bins to pick “beautiful” fruit or veg has become a cultural thing – with no real reason. Grocers throw away produce for being too big, too small, too ugly, or simply too abundant — but not if Snact has its way. The company makes snacks from surplus produce.

Tonnes of perfectly good fruit and vegetables get rejected before reaching shop shelves in the UK. Snact turns this surplus into healthy snacks that contribute to one of your five a day for nutrition. Llana and her cofounder started Snact by collecting surplus fruit at London’s wholesale markets, making snacks in a kitchen in Hackney, and selling them at markets and events across London.

Snact is well on its way to contributing to a tastier, greener, less wasteful and fairer food system.

The company has crowdfunded to take Snact to the next level!
